The Barron River all the way to the mouth of Machans Beach and beyond has an amazing abundance of Bird life and it’s a very popular spot with the Birding community.

Here at Dave’s Boatyard, we offer Hire Boats that you can hire to get you up close and personal with birds along the tidal mudflats, in amongst the mangroves and perched high up in trees along the banks of the Barron river. Our Hire Boats are launched for you at the Barron River boat ramp at Stratford which has a pontoon at the ramp for your convenience, so no soggy wet feet. Our boats are fitted with 6hp outboard motors, so No license required. They are also suited to carry 4 adults and have a full canopy. You can take advantage of a large area of the Barron river as our limits of operation can take you as far as Thomatis creek around the back of the Go-cart track and also all the way down river to the Machans beach mouth of the river. There are also several small creeks that can also be explored on the incoming tide, including Redden creek.
